so, this morning i notice a new voicemail on my phone. i check it: "hello genevieve, this is suzanne carlson from UC hastings admissions. i'm calling regarding your email that you sent on june 9th. i'd love to talk to you today, so please call me at ---. thank you!" the email i'd sent was a reply to their email seeking confirmation that i'd still like to be active on their waitlist for the fall. i'd replied in the affirmative. my breath quickens a bit, and i replay the message to get the number she'd left. i call. i'm put on hold by the office person. ms. carlson answers. she greets me. she is pleased to tell me that a seat has opened up for this fall's incoming class, and she would like to offer me admission to UC hastings. i say YES, i would absolutely like to accept. she extends her congratulations, explains that the school received 6200 applications this year for only 400 places in the class, and that she is very happy to welcome me to UC hastings. i make plans to come down to the school to put down my seat deposit. she thanks me for calling her back today, i thank her for calling, and hang up. "fuck yeaaaahhhhh!" i yell for the benefit of those in my living room. i am going to law school in august. FUCK YEAH!!!!!
Congratulations! My round, I believe.

Holy crap. Congratulations!!!
And you get to stay in SF!!
Wait, if you're a big lawyer, can I hire you as a consiglieri when I become an evil genius?
You will have a code name...."Number 2".
Bwah ha ha ha!!!
That is, unless, you are going to become one of those lawyers for good. Whatever. That's fine. "Helping society", yeah, sure. Almost as good as "taking over the world through highly-contrived plots and establishing a dictatorship under a evil genius".
Whatever floats your boat.
